“knock”我們都知道有”敲，撞”的意思，”door”確實也有”門”的意思，所以很多小夥伴下意識就會把”knock the door”理解為“敲門”。
但是……錯錯錯錯！你要是對別人這麼說的話，別人真的會報警的！
- "knock the door"≠敲門
它的實際意思是破門而入，就是使勁砸門。那你瞬間不就成了入室搶劫嫌疑犯，可別怪鄰居報警哦！那如果要表示禮貌性的敲門，需要加介詞"on/at"。

有人敲門，那自然需要有人應門，但這個短語並不是指嘴上說的回應哦~而是實實在在的去開門，開門迎客；應聲開門。

- "show sb the door"≠展示門
按字面意思來看，那就是給某人指了一扇門，往往只有在生氣的時候會指著門讓人離開吧~所以這句話意思就是要某人離開；下逐客令。

我告訴銀行我想借10萬美元時，他們直接讓我走人。
- “be on the door"≠在門上
這個短語的實際意思是把門，守門（在戲院、夜總會等門口做檢票等工作）。
Do you think that there might be someone on the door at this party tonight?
你覺得今晚的派對會有人站在門口這樣做嗎？
Man B: Yeah, we re going to pay a guy to be on the door to stop people coming in.
有點。所以我們聘請了一個人在門口擋住那樣的人。
