基數詞的用法
( 1 ) of the+基數詞，表示“範圍”
She is the most beautiful girl of the three.
她是3個女孩中最漂亮的。
Jim is the taller of the two.
吉姆是兩個人中較高的。
(2)在表示具體數目時，hundred，thousand．million，dozen 等用單數
在表示“數百、數千、數百萬”等不確定數目時，在 hundreds，thousands．millions．dozens 等後接of+名詞複數
The Great Wall is over six thousand kilometers long．
長城有6 000多千米長。
Those mountains are thousands of meters high.
那些山有數千米高。
注意：
①當這些詞與 a few，several. many 等數目不很具體的詞連用時，用不用複數形式均可。
不用複數形式時，其後的介詞 of 可以省略
用複數形式時，其後介詞 of 不能省略
several dozen ( of ) pencils
several dozens of pencils
幾打鉛筆
②當這些詞後面的名詞有了the，these，those等限定詞修飾時，或其後接的是us，them 這樣的人稱代詞時，則此時必須用介詞 of
two hundred of the workers
這些工人中的200人
three dozen of these eggs
這些雞蛋中的3打
four dozen of them
它們中的4打
