給大家推薦一套適合中國成年人自學的美國英語教材：語境中的語法

今天我真誠地給大家推薦一套適合中國成年人自學的美國英語教材：語境中的語法，英文書名叫：Grammar in Context。它封面是這樣子的：

全套書分為初級、中級、高級三冊，每冊開本889×1194 1/16。

雖然中文名為《美國英語語法》，但其英語書名更體現它有內涵：語境中的語法，這也是我推薦它的原因。針對每一個語法項目，課本用一篇含相應語法內容的文章入手，展開語言點和配套練習。

如第一課“一般現在時的Be”，先是呈現一幅美州地圖，認識美國在美洲的位置。

再引入一篇介紹美國的文章。

The United States

The United States is a big country. There are 50 states in the U.S. Forty-eight states are on the mainland. Two states are far from the mainland Alaska and Hawaii. Alaska is the largest state. It is northwest of Canada. Hawaii is in the Pacific Ocean. This state is a group of small islands.

Washington is a state. It is in the northwest. Washington, D.C., is not a state. It is a special government district. It is on the east coast. It is the capital of the U.S. The White House is in Washington, D. C. The White House is the home of the President. Most states in the eastern part of the U.S. are small. Most states in the West and Southwest are large. The biggest city in the U.S. is New York. Other big cities are Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Boston.

Puerto Rico is not a state. It is a territory of the U.S. It is an island in the Caribbean Sea. Puerto Ricans are citizens of the U.S. The languages of Puerto Rico are Spanish and English.

文中每課的語法重點都用粗體字標明，隨後的講解與練習也根據文章內容展開，再配套一幅美國行政區域圖幫助加深理解課文。

接下來的語法要點有：

1.1 Forms of Be: is, am, are的用法及同步練習；

1.2 Uses of Be: 接形容詞起描繪性作用、接名詞起分類和定義的作用、接介詞+方位詞表地點、接地點名詞表產地或出處。A is B句型還可表年齡、天氣、時間等等。

1.3 Word order of B: Be句型的句子結構。

1.4 The subject (of Be): Be句型的主語。

每個語法要點講解後的練習在此省略。

後面還有另外兩篇課文引出“一般現在時be"用法的其它語言知識點。

本書作者Sandra N. Elbaum 致力於ESL語言教學，也就是把英語當作第二語言學習、大多數是青少年和成年人的教學。雖然中國大多數英語學習者沒有第二語言學習者那麼多的口語運用環境，本書的編制模式符合我對外語學習的認知思路：沒讀過的不聽、沒聽過的不說、沒說過的不寫。

《語境中的語法》說是語法，它對語言知識的引入也是從語言運用實際的篇章入手，而不是初學階段只是：This is a pen. That is a pencil.等簡單句型，這樣學以致用，更適應二語和外語學習者的需求。

它置身於美國語言文化這個大環境的語篇之中；也有很多口語練習，但都是安排在讀懂文章、弄懂語法的基礎上進行的，這就是我極力推崇這套教材的原因。
