Salty Coffee
鹹味咖啡
A boy invited a girl to have coffee with him at a party. He was too nervous to say anything, and she felt uncomfortable.
一個聚會上，有個男孩邀請一個女孩跟他一起喝咖啡。他太緊張了，一句話也說不出來，這讓她感覺很不舒服。
Suddenly he asked the waiter: “Would you please give me some salt? I’d like to put it in my coffee.”
突然，他問服務員：“請給我一些鹽，好嗎？我想把它放進我的咖啡裡。”
She asked him curiously: “Why do you have this hobby?”
她很好奇，便問道：“你怎麼會有這樣一個愛好？”
He replied: “Every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there.”
他回答說：“我每次喝鹹味咖啡時，總會想起我的童年，想起我的故鄉，我太思念故鄉了，那裡住著我的父母親，我非常想念他們。”
While saying that, tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched. Then she also started to speak, spoke about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story.
他說這些話時，不禁熱淚盈眶。女孩被深深地感動了。然後，她開始開口，講述她那遙遠的故鄉，她的童年和家庭。這真是一場美妙的談話，從此一個美麗的愛情故事開始了。
They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who met all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. Then they got married and were living the happy life...And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee, as she knew that’s the way he liked it.
他們繼續約會。女孩發現，事實上，男孩符合她所有的要求，他寬容、善良、熱情、細心。然後，他們就結婚了，過著幸福的生活……她每次為他煮咖啡，都要在咖啡裡放些鹽，因為她知道他喜歡那樣。
After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter which said: “My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie. This was the only lie I said to you—the salty coffee.
四十年後，他離開了人世，給她留下了一封信。信上說：“我最親愛的，請原諒我，原諒我一生的謊言。這是我對你說的唯一的一個謊言——鹹味咖啡。
“I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything. Now I’m dying, I’m afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don’t like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste. But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for a second time, I still want to know you and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again.”
“在我有生之年，有多少次我試圖將真相告訴你，但是我太擔心了，就沒那樣做，因為我向你發過誓絕不對你撒謊。我現在奄奄一息，已經不再有什麼顧忌，所以我就把真相告訴你吧：我不喜歡鹹味咖啡，它的味道是那麼奇怪。但是我卻喝了一生的鹹味咖啡!自從結識你以來，我就從沒有對我為你做過的事情遺憾過。有你在我身邊是我一生最大的幸福。假若我有第二次生命，我仍然想認識你，一生擁有你，即使我還要喝鹹味咖啡。”
Her tears made the letter totally wet.
她的眼淚浸透了信紙。
Some day, someone asked her: “What’s the taste of salty coffee?” “It’s sweet.” She replied.
有一天，有人問她：“放了鹽的咖啡什麼味道？”“甜甜的。”她回答。
The magic of love works in the loving pairs. Both parts are always ready to sacrifice for the other’s sake. Though probably such a sacrifice will cause bitterness to the contributing one, he or she feels sweet.
情侶之間有一種愛的魔力。兩人總會為彼此做出犧牲。儘管這樣的犧牲會給付出的一方帶來一些痛苦，但他/她仍然感覺甜蜜。
