先帮大家解决一个“老问题”，如何翻译“厕所”这个词:
如同中文有“厕所、卫生间、洗手间、盥洗室、茅房、茅厕”等多种说法，英文里，表示“厕所”概念的，也有很多词汇，我在这里列举一些：
(1) Restroom：美式英语，公共厕所。英式英语通常不用这个词。
(2) Bathroom：美式英语中一般指家里的厕所。英式英语既可以指家里的厕所，也可以指公共厕所。但在表达“上厕所”这个概念时，无论英式美式，无论家里的还是公共场所的厕所，都可以用going to the bathroom这个词组。
(3) Toilet：同bathroom，美式英语中一般指家里的厕所。英式英语既可以指家里的厕所，也可以指公共厕所。
(4) Washroom：比较过时的词汇。
(5) John：美国俚语，老一辈很men的人会用。
(6) Loo： 英国俚语。
(7) Water closet (WC)：比较过时的词汇。
(8) Lavatory：给人感觉比较technical，通常在飞机上使用。
(9) Crapper：非礼貌用语。
(10) Pot：比较过时的词汇。

I. Using the Restroom with Your Daughter 和女儿一起上公共厕所
1. Do you need to go to the bathroom? Let's go together.
你想上厕所么？咱们一块去。
2. Let me wash my hands first since I'll need to wipe your bottom later. You don't have to wash yet.
我得先洗洗手，因为我待会儿得给你擦屁股。你先不用洗呢。
3. Let's see if there are any squat toilets. You are too young to use the sitting toilet.
咱们看看有没有蹲坑。你太小了，还用不了马桶。
西方国家没有蹲坑，只有坐式马桶。因此，他们在区分两者时，会管马桶就叫toilet，管蹲坑叫Eastern toilet或者Asian toilet。但是，站在中国人的角度，squat toilet和sitting toilet是我和外国朋友们讨论出的比较合适的翻译。
4. Let's check if there's an empty stall. This one's occupied, but the one at the very end might be empty.
咱们看看还有没有空位。这个有人，但是最里面的那个可能空着呢。
(1) Stall：小隔间。公共厕所的“隔间”叫stall。公共洗澡间的“隔间”叫shower stall，简称shower。
(2) 厕所被占用亦可用full，厕所空着亦可用open或者free。
5. Yes, we can use this one. I'll be in charge of locking the door and flushing the toilet, so try not to touch anything.
嗯，咱们可以上这个。我负责锁门和冲水，所以你尽量什么都别碰。
6. Straddle the toilet. Be careful not to step into it.
两只脚踩在坑的两边。小心点儿，别踩到坑里。
7. No need to spread your legs that far. Move in a little closer.
两条腿不用分得那么宽。往里点儿。
8. Move forward a bit, otherwise your bottom will touch the back.
往前点儿，要不然屁股该蹭到后面了。
9. Squat lower, otherwise you might miss the toilet.
蹲低点儿，要不然你会尿到外面的。
10. Hold onto your clothes. You don't want them to fall into the toilet.
揪着点儿衣服。别掉厕所里。
11. Have you peed yet?
尿出来了么？
虽然中文说尿“出来”，但是英文不能说Have you peed “out” yet。
12. Tell me when you are done and I'll wipe your bottom.
尿完了告诉我，我给你擦屁股。
13. Alright, you can stand up now.
好了，你可以站起来了。
14. Please pull up your pants quickly and don't lean back, otherwise your bottom will touch the wall.
快点儿提上裤子，别往后靠，要不然屁股该蹭墙了。
15. Don't go yet. Please wait for me to pee. I don't want you running off and getting lost.
先别走呢。等我尿完。我怕你跑丢了。
16. Let me flush the toilet and we'll go.
我把厕所冲了，然后咱们就走了。
17. There is a sink for the handicapped. It's lower so please use that one to wash your hands.
那边儿有一个无障碍洗手池。那个比较矮，你用它洗手吧。
18. Each person should use just one paper towel because people have to cut down trees to make it. Everyone is responsible for protecting the environment.
每个人只能用一张擦手纸，因为造纸需要砍树。爱护环境，从我做起。
19. There is a hand dryer over there. Just put your hands under it and it will blow hot air.
那边儿有一个干手机。你把手放到下面，它就会吹出热风。
II. Before Sending Your Son to the Restroom 让儿子进公共厕所前
20. Try to aim in the middle of the urinal when you pee. You don't want to pee outside of it.
你尿尿的时候要瞄准小便池的中间。别尿到外面了。
21. Be careful not to slip if the floor is wet.
地滑的时候要格外小心，别滑倒了。
22. When you use the toilet, don't forget to lift up the toilet seat before you pee.
用马桶的时候，尿之前别忘了把垫圈儿掀起来。
23. Remember to flush when you're done.
