名詞分為：專有名詞，普通名詞，合成名詞。
普通名詞又可以分為：不可數名詞，可數名詞。
不可數名詞可以分為：物質名詞，抽象概念名詞。
可數名詞可以分為：個體名詞，集體名詞。
從數來說，名詞又有單數和複數形式（可數名詞才有單數複數之分，不可數名詞沒有單複數之分）。
從格來說，名詞又有主格，賓格，所有格。主格賓格相同，又叫通格，所有格則不同。
