我一直有一個疑問
北京的英文名字是“Beijing”
上海的的英文名字是“Shanghai”
都是咱們漢語拼音寫法
陝西和山西的拼音都讀“shanxi”
那他們的英文名字應該是啥呢？
原來：
“山西”就是它的漢語拼音Shanxi，
而“陝西”有兩個a，是Shaanxi。

Shanxi
山西
A province of northeast China bordered on the north by a section of the Great Wall. In the Chinese-Japanese War (1937-1945) it was a center of guerrilla warfare. Taiyuan is the capital. Population: 28,759,014.
Shaanxi
陝西
A province of east-central China crossed by the Wei He. One of the earliest cultural and political centers of China, the province is densely populated and highly industrialized. Xi'an is the capital. Population:32,882,403.
為什麼陝西「shaanxi」就要多處一個a呢？
原來↓↓↓
1. 「shaanxi」是 陝西國語羅馬字的寫法，而「shanxi」則是 山西；
2. 不雙寫 n ，是因為「shannxi」音同「善溪」；（不懂為啥的看第三條）
3. 關於韻母 an 的國語羅馬字的四聲標法，依次為 an（一聲）、arn（二聲）、aan（三聲）、ann（四聲）；
所以從音律角度來分析，雙寫a更符合我們的發音。
除陝西以外，中國還有其他4個省級行政區不能用漢語拼音表示，現將這4個省級行政區排列如下（按首字母順序）：
1、香港 Hong Kong
2、內蒙古 Inner Mongolia
3、澳門 Macao
4、西藏 Tibet
