光緒元寶是清朝光緒年間流通的貨幣之一。由兩廣總督張之洞率先引進英國鑄幣機器鑄造銀元和銅元，之後各省紛紛仿效，共有十九個省局鑄造。光緒年間鑄造了一系列錢幣，但江南省造光緒元寶由於不便於流通使用，故鑄額極其稀少，更顯珍貴。
Guangxu Yuanbao was one of the currencies circulated in Guangxu during the Qing Dynasty. The governor of Guangdong and Guangdong, Zhang Zhidong, took the lead in introducing the British coin machine to cast silver and copper coins. After that, the provinces followed suit, with 19 provincial bureaus casting them. During the reign of Guangxu, a series of coins were minted. However, the amount of coins minted in the southern part of the Yangtze River was extremely rare and precious because it was not easy to circulate and use.
江南省設於清朝順治二年(1645年)，省府位於江寧(今南京)。清代的江南省前身是明朝的南直隸江南省，範圍大致相當於今天的江蘇省、上海市和安徽省。康熙六年(1667年)清廷撤江南省，分設江蘇和安徽兩個省。南京造幣廠將其鑄造的銀幣標明“江南省造”，是因為當時蘇州已經有一個專鑄機制銅元的造幣廠，其鑄造的銅元均標明“江蘇省造”。為避免混淆，南京造幣廠將其鑄造的銀幣標明“江南省造”。系我國貨幣史上唯一有名無實的省份銀幣。
Jiangnan province was set up in the Qing Dynasty two years (1645), the provincial capital is located in Jiangning (today's Nanjing). The predecessor of Jiangnan Province in Qing Dynasty was Nanzhili Jiangnan Province in Ming Dynasty, which was roughly equivalent to Jiangsu Province, Shanghai City and Anhui Province today. In the six year (1667), the Qing Dynasty withdrew from Jiangnan province and divided into two provinces of Jiangsu and Anhui. The Nanjing Mint marked the silver coins it had minted as "made in Jiangnan Province" because there was already a mint in Suzhou at that time, and the copper coins it had minted were marked "made in Jiangsu Province". In order to avoid confusion, the Nanjing Mint marked its silver coin as "Jiangnan province". It is the only province in China that has a nominal name in the history of money.
日前，中皇拍賣有限公司徵集到一枚江南省造光緒元寶每元當制錢十文，此錢幣品相保存完好，字跡蒼勁有力紋路清晰可見非常美觀，包漿老道自然，文中此“江南省造光緒元寶每元當制錢十文（凹邊）”，藏品正面中珠圈內鐫滿漢文“光緒元寶”四字，圈外上端鐫“江南省造”，下端鐫幣重“每元當制錢十文”。錢幣背面中鐫一個飛龍，上端鐫英文“江南省”，下端鐫英文幣重“TEN CASH”，左右兩側分別鐫一個長六花星。此乃銅幣珍品，收藏價值和升值空間都值得期待，是不可多得的稀有錢幣。
