1、big常指程度，範圍，規模，容積，重量，數量等（還可表示"偉大，重要"之意）常可與large互換，多用於具體的、有形的人或物（其反義詞多為little/small。）如：
This is a big cock.這是隻大公雞。
cake is the biggest of all.吉姆的蛋糕是所有蛋糕中最大的。 There is a big tree beside the house.房子旁邊有一棵大樹。a big man/house/increase
高大的男人；大房子；大幅度增長
You're a big girl now.你現在已長成大姑娘了。

3、large 側重表示三維量值，強調體積，修飾人時指個子大或肥胖。此外它也可以表示範圍，能力(capacity)和數量(amount或quantity)方面的大

a big person 未必large， 一個大人物（未必體型高大）
相反a large person未必big 一個大個子（未必是重要人物）
