嘿，大家好！我们今天来聊一个很有意思的表达：That’s interesting！我想这句话的意思大家都应该知道是：真有意思，真有趣；
不过在很多情况下，它的意思可能会有不同的含义哦！
我们先来看下面几个例句：
Student: In my opinion, this question is related to biochemistry.
Teacher: Oh, that’s interesting.
大家可以猜一下这句话里面的interesting到底是什么意思？老师真的觉得这位学生的回答很有趣很有意思吗？
其实，实际情况并不是这样的。在美国的大学里，学生在回答老师问题的时候都非常积极，老师一旦提出问题，就会有很多同学踊跃发言。但这时候学生们的回答大多都是奇思妙想、千奇百怪甚至不着边际。
有时候，如果老师觉得学生回答得不对，也不会明确指出而是用一句：That’s interesting！（这很有趣嘛！）来鼓励学生继续回答，而不打击学生的积极性。有时候也会说：That’s an interesting point.
在Tommy看来，这真的是一种非常好的回答方式。既鼓励了学生，又不会让学生觉得因为自己没回答对而不再敢回答。
好了，我们再来看看跟interest有关的实用表达：
①in the interest of saving time （in order to hurry things along; in order to save time. ）为了节约时间（in the interest of = 为了）
Mary: In the interest of saving time, I'd like to save questions for the end of my talk.
为了节省时间，我想在我结束讲话后再回答问题。
Bill: But I have an important question now!
但我现在有一个重要的问题！
②draw interest （to appear interesting and get (someone's) attention）引起关注
This kind of event isn't likely to draw a lot of interest.
这样的活动不太可能引起大家的关注。
③interest （A person or organization that has an interest in an area, a company, a property or in a particular type of business owns stock in it.）股权（这里的stock是指股份）
My father had many business interests in China.
我父亲在中国有许多公司股权。
