據報道，當地時間4月29日美國總統特朗普在白宮接受路透社採訪時，聲稱中國政府“將竭盡所能”讓他在11月的總統大選中連任失敗。不過，他並未透露相關依據，只是表示“中國在新冠疫情期間的行事證明了這一點”。

對此，中國外交部發言人耿爽在4月30日的記者會上作出回應。
耿爽表示：
我們多次說過，美國大選是美國的內部事務，中方沒有興趣去幹預。同時我們也希望美國的國內政治不要拿中國說事兒。
Like we said repeatedly, the presidential election is an internal affair of the US. We are not interested in meddling. In the meantime, we hope the US will stop dragging China in its domestic politics.
最近我們多次用時間線的方式，花了比較長的時間，介紹中方抗擊疫情和開展國際合作的有關情況。有一點很明確，那就是中方始終堅持公開、透明、負責任的態度。我們管控住自己國內的疫情，同時也為國際抗疫鬥爭作出了重要貢獻。對此國際社會普遍給予充分肯定和高度讚賞。
I've been answering similar questions lately and sharing a detailed time-line of China's efforts on many occasions. One thing is clear: in an open, transparent and responsible spirit, China has contained COVID-19 at home and made important contribution to the global fight, which is fully recognized and highly commended by the international community.
一段時間以來，美國的個別政客罔顧事實，抹黑攻擊中國，企圖推卸自身抗疫不力的責任，轉移視線、“甩鍋”推責。這種做法抹殺不了中國人民經過艱苦努力取得的抗疫成果，只會暴露美方個別人的險惡用心以及他們自身存在的嚴重問題。
For some time, certain US politicians neglect facts and attempt to shirk their responsibility and hide their incompetence by blaming China. But such attempts, instead of eliminating the progress our people made through arduous efforts, will only expose certain US individuals' malicious intentions and the serious problems inherent in the US.
至於美方所謂的追責問題，我們以前多次說過，病毒是人類的共同敵人，中方也是病毒的受害者，而不是病毒的同謀。受害者同命相連，應該團結協作。
美方個別人應該清楚，他們的敵人是病毒，而不是中國。As for "demanding accountability", like we said many times, the virus is a common enemy to all mankind. China is a victim, not an accomplice. As victims hit by the same COVID-19 virus, we should have the same appeals and cooperate. Certain people in the US should be aware that their enemy is the virus, not China.
面對重大公共衛生危機，國際社會需要的是攜起手來，而不是製造各種名目去拆別人的臺。美方也必須清楚，疫情當前，大家應該同舟共濟。這時候拆別人的臺，最終也將拆了自己的臺。
Faced with a major public health crisis, the international community needs to join hands instead of undercutting others' efforts under various pretexts. The US should also be clear that countries should tide over the difficulties together. Undermining others' endeavors will only end up damaging their own.
