A Blessing In Disguise 因禍得福
Once upon a time, there was an old man who lived with his son on the borders (邊境) of the country.
從前，一位老翁和他的兒子住在國家的邊境上。
They both enjoyed riding horses very much.
他們都非常喜歡騎馬。
One day, a servant reported to the old man: “One of our good horses has gone missing. It seems that the horse ran across to the neighboring country.”
有一天，一個僕人給老先生報告：“我們家的一匹駿馬走丟了。這匹馬好像跑去鄰國了。”
The old man’s friends came and comforted him after knowing this news.
老翁的朋友們知道這個消息後都過來安慰他。
However, the old man said: “Well, this is not necessarily a bad thing. Who knows!”
然而，老先生卻說：“沒事，這未必是一件壞事。誰知道呢！”
Couple of months later, a strange thing happened.
幾個月之後，一件奇妙的事情發生了。
The missing horse came back, accompanied by a great steed (駿馬) from the neighboring country.
那匹走失了的駿馬回來了，並且身邊跟著一匹從鄰國來的駿馬。
When his friends congratulated (祝賀) him on this great news, the old man said: “Well, this might bring us bad luck.”
當他的好友為這個好消息祝賀他時，老翁說：“唉，這也許會給我們帶來厄運呢！”
One day, his son was riding on that new steed.
一天，他的兒子正在騎那匹新來的駿馬。
Suddenly, he fell from the hose and broke the leg.
突然，他從馬上掉了下來並摔斷了腿。
His son was never able to walk normally again.
他的兒子從今以後再也不能正常走路了。
His friends felt sorry for him, but the old man was not bothered, and said:“This accident (意外) might bring us good luck in the future.”
他的朋友都為此感到抱歉，但老翁並沒有為此煩惱，說道：“這個意外也許以後能為咱們帶來好運也不一定。”
A year later, all young men in the country were drafted to join a war.
一年後，全國上下的年輕男子都被抓去參戰。
Most young men who fought died on the battlefield.
大部分去打仗的年輕人都戰死沙場。
Luckily, the old man’ son avoided (避免) entering the war because of his broken leg.
幸運的是，老翁的兒子因為他受傷的腿而免去參戰。
