当羔羊不再沉默——《浅析沉默的羔羊》系列

恐怖剧目的经典之作,待宰的羊羔,剖析的心灵,杀人的人魔,这一切故事的起因其实也源自一只“待宰的羔羊”。在《沉默的羔羊》四部曲中每一个出现在情节中的“杀人狂魔”都有一种病态的经历,或者说他们都有一种病态的心理。当然从道教中关于事物因果发展理论而言,这些病态的心理背后都有一段惨痛的经历。从剧本角度而言,观众为何喜欢欣赏别人的经历,这是一件值得玩味的事。这里,我将举几个例子来分析这些剧本片段带给观众的“病态欣赏”。

Hannibal Lecter: You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste. Good nutrition has given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you, Agent Starling? And that accent you've tried so desperately to shed? Pure West Virginia. What's your father, dear? Is he a coal miner? Does he stink of the lamp? You know how quickly the boys found you... all those tedious sticky fumblings in the back seats of cars... while you could only dream of getting out... getting anywhere... getting all the way to the FBI.

汉尼拔:你知道我是怎么看你的?你拿着不错的包却穿着廉价的鞋,看 上去像个土包子。一个整洁干净而强加进一点品味的土包子。良好的营养让你的骨骼生长,可你还是贫穷白人的后代,是吧,史达琳特工?你拼命想摆脱你的口音,纯正的西弗吉尼亚口音。亲爱的,你的父亲是做什么的?他是矿工?他带着矿灯的气味?你知道男孩们多快就找到了你……所有那些在汽车后座上令人乏味的笨手笨脚……你梦想逃离,去投奔联邦调查局。

Clarice Starling: You see a lot don't you doctor. Why don't you turn that high-powered perception at yourself and tell us what you see, or, maybe you're afraid to.

克拉丽丝:你能分析出很多,不是吗,博士?为什么不把你深邃的洞察力用在你自己身上,告诉我们你看到了什么,或许你害怕这样做。

Hannibal Lecter: A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and anice Chianti.

汉尼拔:曾经有人想调查我。我就着蚕豆和酒,把他的肝脏吃掉了。

克拉丽丝:我听到奇特的声音。

Hannibal Lecter: What was it?

汉尼拔:是什么?

Clarice Starling: It was... screaming. Some kind of screaming, like a child's voice.

Hannibal Lecter: What did you do?

Clarice Starling: I went downstairs, outside. I crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside, but I had to.

克拉丽丝:我下了楼梯走到外面,蹑手蹑脚的来到牲口棚。里面的场景太吓人了。

Hannibal Lecter: And what did you see, Clarice? What did you see?

汉尼拔:你看到了什么?

Clarice Starling: Lambs. The lambs were screaming.

克拉丽丝:羔羊们在号叫。

Hannibal Lecter: They were slaughtering the spring lambs?

汉尼拔:他们在屠宰羔羊?

Clarice Starling: And they were screaming.

克拉丽丝:还有它们在嚎叫。

Hannibal Lecter: And you ran away?

汉尼拔:你逃跑了?

Clarice Starling: No. First I tried to free them. I... I opened the gate to their pen, but they wouldn't run. They just stood there, confused. They wouldn't run.

克拉丽丝:不。起初我想放掉它们。我打开了门,可它们却不动,只是困惑的站在那,它们不想跑。

Hannibal Lecter: But you could and you did, didn't you?

汉尼拔:但是你可以,不是吗?

Clarice Starling: Yes. I took one lamb, and I ran away as fast as I could.

Hannibal Lecter: Where were you going, Clarice?

Clarice Starling: I don't know. I didn't have any food, any water and it was very cold, very cold. I thought, I thought if I could save just one, but... he was so heavy. So heavy. I didn't get more than a few miles when the sheriff's car picked me up. The rancher was so angry he sent me to live at the Lutheran orphanage in Bozeman. I never saw the ranch again.

克拉丽丝:我不知道,我没有食物和水,天气很冷,我想如果我可以哪怕只救出来一只,可是……他太重了。当我搭上治安官的车,我还没跑出几英里。农场主很生气,他把我送进波兹曼的路德教会孤儿院,我再没看到过那家农场。

Hannibal Lecter: What became of your lamb, Clarice?

Clarice Starling: They killed him.

Hannibal Lecter: Why do you think he removes their skins, Agent Starling?

汉尼拔:你为什么认为他给他们剥了皮,史达琳特工?

Hannibal Lecter: Enthrall me with your acumen.

汉尼拔:施展一下你聪慧的魅力。

Clarice Starling: It excites him. Most serial killers keep some sort of trophies from their victims.

Hannibal Lecter: I didn't.

Clarice Starling: No. No, you ate yours.

克拉丽丝:是的,你把那些都吃了。

这是影片《沉默的羔羊》第一部中男女主人公的一次经典对话,它第一次交代了影片的主题定位。不过此处交代的相对比较晦涩,对于大多数观众而言这些只不过是一个信息,一个不太清楚的信息,一个他们认为只是为了交代主题而定的对话。但从编剧角度看,这段对话可不仅只是这点作用而已。

编剧通过汉尼拔医生对克拉丽丝的引导打开她心里的同时揭示出每个人的内心中都有一块柔软的地方,它就叫“沉默的羔羊”,也许在某一时刻这种沉默就会被释放出来。而这些东西在心理医生眼中往往会成为打开病人心扉的钥匙,这可以帮助治疗心理疾病。在《沉默的羔羊1》中的这段对话中克拉丽丝想放掉的不仅仅是羊羔,是相对相当于自身的这种弱者的拯救,但这些成为了虚幻,幼小的孩子不会明白为何待宰的羔羊总是“沉默”。但在这次对话之后,克拉丽丝摆脱了胆怯,摆脱了内心的这种沉默,这为她最终勇敢制敌埋下伏笔。

从男主人公汉尼拔的角度看,他善于分析,了解杀人者的心理,但是他自己呢?他的淡定与儒雅在这个对话场面中很难让观众将其与食人恶魔联系起来,强烈的反差让我们对心理医生汉尼拔的认识更加全面,人物形象更加丰满。甚至会使观众对这个杀人狂魔产生一点同情,但由于采用了希区柯克式的悬念手法和现代恐怖片的心理分析方法,使得整部影片的情节扑朔迷离,将观众引入了一个象征性的人类潜意识的世界。这段对话中就是一个很好的例证。

Hannibal Lecter: Given the chance, you would deny me my life, wouldn't you?

汉尼拔:一旦得到机会,你不会再让我生存下去,不是吗?

Clarice Starling: Not your life.

克拉丽斯:我要的不是你的生命。

Hannibal Lecter: Just my freedom. You'd take that from me.

汉尼拔:只是我的自由。你已经从我这夺走了。

Clarice Starling: If you touch me, I'll shoot you.

克拉丽斯:你如果碰我,我会射杀你。

Hannibal Lecter: Understood.

汉尼拔:明白。

Clarice Starling: Do right, and you'll live through this.

克拉丽斯:老实点,你会经受住的。

Hannibal Lecter: Spoken like a true Protestant.

汉尼拔:说得像个真正的新教徒。

Hannibal Lecter: ...would they have you back, you think? The FBI? Those people you despise almost as much as they despise you. Would they give you a medal, Clarice, do you think? Would you have it professionally framed and hang it on your wall to look at and remind you of your courage and incorruptibility? All you would need for that, Clarice, is a mirror.

汉尼拔:你想过联邦调查局会招回你吗?那些人像你轻视他们一样轻视你。克拉丽斯,你认为他们会给你勋章吗?你会把它装裱起来挂在墙上吗?每当看到它都会让你想起你的勇气和清廉吗?克拉丽斯,你需要的是面镜子。

对于一个多走多人生命的“杀人狂魔”而言他对于人的生命漠不关心,他只在一片沉静中研究着对面人的哪块肉好吃。然而在一切与自身自由挂钩的事物上他又作着诡辩,看来对于任何人而言自由比一切都重要。面对自己喜欢的女人,汉尼拔在自由与女人中选择了两者兼顾,为此他不惜自断手臂。在这段经典对话之前的那段“吃脑仁”画面给人以极大的震撼,一场貌似体面的晚宴上竟是一道充满血腥的“菜”。

汉尼拔用一面镜子来解释自己存在于监牢外的价值,冠冕堂皇,他在吃人的同时还在想极力保证自己的自由。也许看过前面众多片段的观众们认为”这次终于他该进监狱里吧“。但高明的编剧通过汉尼拔之口告诉我们正义需要邪恶来衬托,社会中所谓的正义不总是正义的,在《沉默的羔羊2》中反而会使观众希望由汉尼拔来惩罚正义势力中的”叛徒“。

一个高明的编剧会抓住观众的心理,而这段对话这是为观众的一种期许做伏笔。这段话看似平淡但却隐意非常,一种”以暴制暴“惩罚犯罪的病态心理开始产生... ...

直以来,没有人能够走进汉尼拔·莱克特博士的精神世界,但是那一张张情真意切的面庞,却是汉尼拔挥之不去的梦魇。汉尼拔的父亲是立陶宛的男爵,1944年,战火摧毁了他们的农庄,纳粹杀死了汉尼拔的父母。汉尼拔和妹妹米莎被一群说着各种语言的逃兵抓住,并关了起来。正值冬天,食物少得可怜,汉尼拔亲眼目睹这群饿极的人抓住了一只受伤的小鹿,并用斧头砍下了它的头。后来,他们带走了汉尼拔妹妹米莎,也像砍鹿那样砍死了她……那一刻,汉尼拔觉得自己灵魂深处的某根弦被拔动了,并在心里形成了顽固的心理死结。

在《沉默的羔羊之4汉尼拔的崛起》中,妹妹米沙被杀的场景多次出现在少年汉尼拔的梦中,由于战争给他带来的无尽伤痛和无人为其伸张正义的事实,汉尼拔开始了用自己的方式进行复仇。上述这个片段在解释战争残酷邪恶的同时对汉尼拔的犯罪心里的形成和杀人手段的形成做出了最深刻的解释。

最后,请记住,杀人魔不是魔鬼,是人!最恐怖的,也是人!
