re- = 重新
double = 雙重的
大家總覺得re- 和double的意思差不多
其實不然！
舉例
relock the door = 重新鎖一遍門
double lock the door = 給門上兩道鎖
所以
recheck = 重新檢查一遍 (✔)
double check= 連著檢查兩遍 (✔)
confirm 和 check 不同！
交卷前 check 幾遍都沒關係
但 confirm 一次就會有結果
reconfirm = 重新證實一次結論 (✔)
double confirm = 重複證實兩次 (✘)
例句
You'd better reconfirm which bus should you take to the railway station.
你最好再確認下應該坐哪路公交去火車站。
所以，double還有"雙，兩次"的意思
