全球人文和批评理论学会最近开展了一个名为“政治概念的全球史”的研究项目(http://aghct.org/research-and-opportunities/606)。该项目旨在为有志于挑战现代政治思想史传统议题的学者创造一个跨国的学术网络。本项目的一个目标是为一个全球视角的政治思想史创造一个新架构，这一方面意味着对欧洲中心论视角下的现代政治概念及其理性和理论框架的取代和转向，另一方面意味着超越对政治现代性和全球化的社会、政治分析的“方法论上的民族主义”。更具体地说，本项目意在将政治概念“地方化”，也即承认现代政治概念是一套源自欧洲的理论，它只适合这个世界的特定地区，因而不能充分理解非欧洲语境下的政治现代性。与此同时，我们希望通过发展一套关于根本政治概念的新的全球语汇，来将政治概念“全球化”。
本次国际学术会议由全球人文和批评理论学会和清华大学人文与社会科学高等研究所共同主办，是这一目标的初步尝试。它聚焦于“主权”，并将围绕以下五个主题展开：
1、重思主权的法制
2、主权的替代概念；
3、现代主权的意识形态和技术；
4、当代主权的形式；
5、新的政治共同体与统治权力
