bite the bullet? 咬子弹？
我们先看一个句子：
It's time to bite the bullet and just go for it.
Go for it就是“去做吧”，好理解，但是这个“bite the bullet”是什么意思呢？翻译成“咬子弹”？
（bullet 英音 /'bʊlɪt/ 美音 /'bʊlɪt/ n.子弹）
显然英语习语不能按字面翻译，但是从“咬子弹”的字面意思，貌似可以推测出bite the bullet好像是指“牙口好”，是这样的吗？
其实，在麻醉剂发明之前，战场上的士兵受枪伤后，只能咬住子弹忍着疼痛接受手术。因此，这个场景固化下来，变成了一个习语，表达下面的意思：
You realize that you cannot avoid something unpleasant, and so accept it.
（你意识到你无法避免一件糟心的事，只有硬着头皮接受。）
翻译成中文即为：
咬紧牙关应付，硬着头皮应付。
