在外國人的日常生活中，
時常可以聽到“sweet water”這個短語。
你知道它的意思嗎？
“糖水或甜水”？

後來就常用 hot water 這個詞，
來形容有人有麻煩啦~

與“be in hot water”意思相反，
這個短語和“keep one's head above water”
意思是一樣的，
都有“擺脫困境”、“擺脫麻煩”的意思。
我們都知道，
游泳時要把頭抬出水面，
溺水或在游泳時遇到麻煩時，
也要儘量把頭部露出水面來呼吸或者呼救，
所以這個短語便有了“擺脫麻煩”的意思。

hold water
這個短語單從字面意思上看是拿著水的。
但其實它是指：
某一個人找的藉口、提出的理由、或說的話
是站得住腳的，合乎邏輯的。
舉個栗子：
That excuse simply doesn't hold water.
Your views are absurd and don't hold water.
His argument just doesn't hold water. It's all based on emotions, not on facts.
他的爭論根本站不住腳。都是自己的主觀情緒，不是客觀事實。
like a duck to water
鴨子喜歡水是天經地義的，
like a duck to water表達的就是：
“非常喜歡”、“如魚得水”或“輕而易舉”。
舉個栗子：
She's taken to teaching like a duck to water.
她教起書來輕而易舉。
He will take to it like a duck to water.
他在這裡會如魚得水。
