A national anthem is a nation's official song which is played or sung on public occasions.
国歌指的是在公共场合播放和演奏的国家官方歌曲。

National song
song ：歌;歌曲;(统称)歌曲;歌唱;声乐;(鸟的)鸣啭
民族歌,指能激起爱国情怀的歌曲,如我们的红歌
*anthem 和 song 都是名词，anthem 单独使用就有国歌的意思，而song单独使用不指代某一类型的歌曲。anthem的使用范围没有song使用范围广。
anthem能表示某一类型的歌曲，song 可以作为歌曲的统称。
song 还有鸟叫声的意思。
学会了国歌，还要学会祖国的英文表达。祖国的常见英语是 motherland 和homeland，二者也是有区别的。
motherland 的感情色彩更强烈，homeland 除了表示祖国，还有家乡和国土的意思。
