《商君书》是法家的一部重要作品，现在我们用汉英两个版本来欣赏一下！
1.是以圣人苟可以强国，不法其故；苟可以利民，不循其礼。
Therefore, if a wise man rules a country, if he can make it rich and powerful, he does not have to follow the old laws. If people can benefit, they do not have to follow the old etiquette.
所以圣明的人治理国家，如果能够使国家富强，就不必去沿用旧有的法度。如果能够是百姓得到益处，就不必去遵循旧的礼制。
2.圣人不易民而教，知者不变法而治。
The wise do not change the old customs of the people to educate, and the wise do not change the old laws to govern the country.
圣明的人不去改变百姓的旧习俗来施行教化，有智慧的人不改变旧有的法度来治理国家。
3.因民而教者，不劳而功成；据法而治者，吏习而民安。
Those who conform to the old customs of the common people to practice enlightenment can achieve success without any effort. Those who govern according to the old law, the officials are familiar with the law, and the people are at peace.
顺应百姓旧有的习俗来实施教化的，不用费什么辛苦就能成就功业；根据旧有的法度来治理国家的人，官吏熟悉礼法，百姓也安乐。
4.今若变法，不循秦国之故，更礼以教民，臣恐天下之议君，愿孰察之。
Now if we change the law and do not follow the old legal system of the state of qin, we should change the etiquette system to educate the common people. I hope the king will seriously consider such a matter.
现在如果改变法度，不遵循秦国旧有的法制，要更改礼制教化百姓，臣担心天下人要非议国君了。希望国君认真考虑这样的事。
5.子之所言，世俗之言也。夫常人安于故习，学者溺于所闻。
These are the words of the people in society. Ordinary people are old-fashioned, and those who read books are confined to what they have heard.
您所说的这些话，正是社会上俗人说的话。平庸的人守旧的习俗，读死书的人局限在他们听说过的事情上。
