關於主語從句的小提示（Tips in subject clause）
Tip 1：為了使句子結構平衡, 常用 it 作形式主語把主語從句放在後面。 例如:
1. That he will refuse this piece of advice is impossible.--
It is impossible that he will refuse this piece of advice.
*it為形式主語
2. Whether we can go out for a picnic depends on
the weather.--
It depends on the weather whether we can
go out for a picnic.
練習：找出下列句中的主語從句。
It is true that she lost her necklace.
It is common knowledge that the whale is not
a fish.
It was reported that there had been an earthquake
in India.
It is still a question whether she will come or not.
It happened that I was there.
Conclusion:
句型結構：It is /was +adj / noun / be V-ed/verb+ that / whether/…
Tip 2:主語從句一律用陳述語序，即主語在前，謂語在後。
When will he come is not known.
正：When he will come is not known.
Tip 3:whether 可以引導主語從句，放在句首，但if不能.可以用whether…or not,但不能用if …or not.
If the meeting will be put off has not been decided yet.
正： Whether the meeting will be put
off has not been decided yet.
Tip 4:主語從句的謂語動詞多用單數第
三人稱形式。
When he will come are a puzzle.
正：When he will come is a puzzle.

As-it is known to us that many animals are in
danger now. The reason is 加上that people cut down trees,
destroying their habitats. So what we can do are-is
to take some effective measures. But if-whether we can
change the situation depends on our determination.
After all, protecting wild animals is protecting
ourselves.
