In cooperation and collaboration with Governor Gary Herbert and Utah’s Coronavirus Task Force, Mayor Michelle Kaufusi has released Provo City’s plan to help mitigate the community spread of Covid-19 for the health of our citizens.

The safety of the citizens and employees is of paramount importance to us. The most important thing to remember is to not panic but to be in a higher state of protection and prevention. Our primary focus throughout this rapidly-evolving situation is to maintain all essential city services, with minimal disruptions. In particular, it is ‘situation normal’ for our police and fire departments.

Preemptive measures are effective immediately unless otherwise stated, and will be re-evaluated on a day-to-day basis. We will notify the public of updates as necessary.

❇️ Cancellations of all city-sponsored performances at Covey Center for the Arts and all city-sponsored group activities at Provo Library at Academy Square will be in effect starting March 13

❇️ Closure of Provo City Senior Center and senior group activities and services

❇️ Suspension of all programs designated for ages 6 and under and senior adults at the Provo Recreation Center, The Peaks Ice Arena, and the Covey Center for the Arts

These include, but are not limited to the following:

❇️ Senior Pass related activities and classes

❇️ Elder Quest

❇️ Senior Lunch (Meals on Wheels lunch delivery will continue)

❇️ Swim Lessons

❇️ Child Watch

❇️ Youth Community Classes

❇️ Sports Programming

❇️ Dance Programming

Provo City’s Community Safety Plan is intended to take proactive actions that will help contain any possible spread and share action messages we can all take to protect ourselves and others, including social distancing, proper hygiene, and calm preparedness.

We will continue to take our guidance from Utah’s Coronavirus Task Force and others given responsibility for managing this ongoing public health issue. Our Provo City community safety plan was developed in response to Governor Herbert’s following recommendations:

❇️ Limit group gatherings to 100 healthy individuals or fewer

❇️ If sick, stay home.

❇️ Due to their vulnerable nature, adults over 60 years old should avoid large gatherings of over 20 people

❇️ Immunocompromised people should also avoid large gatherings of over 20 people

❇️ Telecommute to work, if possible and start immediately
