ISLAMABAD (AP) — The U.N. Secretary General called Pakistan “a reliable and generous partner” for hosting millions of Afghan refugees on Sunday, pointing out that the South Asian county has had to do so with little support from the international community.

Pakistan has been hosting the Afghan refugees since 1979 right after Soviet invasion, Afghan’s moved from Kabul through those rough terrain on foot and came all the way to Karachi. Their second generation is now raised in Pakistan. Many refugees established businesses and are now permanent settlers in Pakistan though there was no immigration policy in place at the time. This brought Heroin culture which Pakistan is still reaping what it sowed!
