In order to share the fun of reading good books and arouse our interest in reading, the activity “Good Books to Recommend” is to be held in the reading room on November 30th.
The activity lasts from 5:00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. All the members of the English club are required to attend and share one of your favorite books with others. Some English teachers are also invited to join. Besides, all the participants are supposed to communicate with others in English.
Make careful preparations for it and be sure to come on time.

Nowadays an increasing number of teenagers are taking part in TV talent shows, about which opinions vary from person to person.
Some are in favor of it, saying that it is a stage to show their talent of art, contributing much to their social experience and self-confidence. What’s more, it’s also good for their overall development. Others think otherwise. They think the teenagers are just imitating others rather than showing something original. Besides, some are such “star dream” followers that they can’t put their heart and soul into their study, thus affecting their study badly.
Personally, important as study is, it’s not the only thing we can do. It’s preferable to explore our abilities in other areas besides study.

A polluted environment
Dear schoolmates,
Environmental pollution is a serious social problem. It poses a terrible threat to men’s health. The atmosphere is filthy. The air is thick with dust and burnt oil. Dark smoke is being emitted from chimneys, and choking fumes are being released from numerous vehicles. Stay a little while in a big city, then wipe your forehead with your handkerchief, and you’ll find it black. Hang out your washings on the line to dry, and you will have to wash them again. Garbage is left to accumulate in unsanitary heaps that attract flies and give off bad smell. Nor is the pollution confined to air and land. Large quantities of sewage and chemical waste are dumped daily into rivers, lakes and the sea, which kills millions of fish. Noises from honking cars, rumbling machines and broadcasting loudspeakers may make a person nervous and irritable, even drive him crazy. Environmental pollution is responsible for many diseases that are disabling, or bringing death to human beings.
In short, let’s take good care of our own globe, not only for the well-being of ourselves, but also for that of our future generations.

Last week, we took the foreign students in our school to experience the authentic tea culture, which turned out to be extremely rewarding.
On arriving at the tea house, the foreign students were impressed by the unique tea pots and tea cups. I gave them a vivid and informative introduction of tea culture, including its profound history, its rich variety, and the exquisite craftsmanship of making tea with their interest greatly sparked, I then began to teach them how to make tea.
In order to deliver a clear presentation, I slowly explained the traditional procedure of making tea in detail. Absorbed in every move of mine, the foreign students were once again amazed by this unique culture and they couldn’t help taking pictures from time to time.
Next came the moment when I asked them to have a try themselves. Washing the tea pots, adding tea leaves, and pouring water into the cups, they followed my instructions and were really immersed in charming tea culture. The tea house witnessed a really enjoyable time for all of us.
At the end of the activity, holding the tea bags in our hands, we took a picture to memorize the unforgettable day. It suddenly hit me that traditional culture like tea culture was of great charm and huge value. And I am so proud of spreading our own culture to people all over the world.

My dream library is a place in which I feel comfortable when reading. The details are as follows.
First of all, the library should be equipped with varieties of books for us readers to choose from. Meanwhile, it is of great importance for the library to update its books, which helps us keep pace with the changing world. Besides, the library should make full use of the Internet to give us access to resources beyond printed books. What’s more, the opening time of the library should be lengthened. Last but not the least, advanced systems should be designed so that we can borrow books in a short time.
In a word, only when the library becomes more comfortable and convenient will we be more willing to visit it.

Recently I have carried out a survey among the students in our class to find out what influences the music we listen to.
According to the survey, TV and films have the strongest effect on their choice of music, about 50 percent of the students sharing the opinion. Nearly 30 percent of the students say they are influenced by friends when deciding what music to listen to. Radio comes third, with 20 percent of the students choosing it. Parents seem to have very little influence. Only about 10 percent of the students say they listen to what their parents recommend.
As far as I am concerned, what influences me most is TV and films. The reason is that the music in the film usually goes with beautiful pictures, and expresses certain feelings of my favorite heroes. Good film music, as is often the case, can accompany a person’s entire life.
