- known。known as意為“被稱作、被叫作”，此處介紹The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland的另一種名稱。
- lying。此處是介紹Britain的位置，lie意為“坐落在……”。
- includes。意為“包括、由……構成”，相當於consists of，is made up of，有時也可以用is divided into。
- islands。比較級smaller表明此處講的和前面是同樣的東西。
- shares。“共同擁有”。此處指的是兩地交界。
- surrounded。常識理解。
