簡單句的省略
1．省略共同的主語或賓語。
Mr.Smith picked up a coin in the road and(Mr.Smith)handed it to a policeman.
史密斯先生在路上撿到一枚硬幣，並把它交給了警察。
2．若主語不同而助動詞、情態動詞相同，則省略後面的情態動詞或助動詞。
Jack must have been playing football and Mary (must have been) doing her homework.
傑克肯定一直在踢足球，瑪麗在寫作業。
3．省略重複的連詞及後續部分。
He was late because he had overslept and (because he had)missed the train.
他遲到了，因為睡過了頭誤了火車。
4．There be句型的省略。
(Is there) Anything wrong？
發生了什麼事嗎？
5．感嘆句根據上下文的省略。
What a (good) boy (he is)！
多好的男孩呀！
6．名詞所有格修飾的名詞若表示店鋪、住宅、教堂或上下文已暗示或明確指出過的事物時可省略名詞。
I go to the supermarket instead of the butcher's (shop) to buy meat.
我去超市而不是去肉鋪買肉。
7．介詞的省略。
可以省略介詞in的幾個固定詞組，如spend time (in) doing sth.，have a hard time (in) doing sth.，waste time (in) doing sth.等。
He seldom spends his spare time (in) studying.
他空餘時間很少學習。
