Big Four face scrutiny as watchdog launches audit sector review

The competition regulator has launched an immediate review of Britain’s audit industry over concerns that it is not working well for the economy or investors in British companies. It will report initial findings before the end of the year.
普華永道、德勤、畢馬威、安永這四大會計事務所面臨英國政府審查。初步審查結果將於今年底公佈。
在此之前，畢馬威會計事務所在對卡利蓮建築公司的審計中，沒有發現該公司賬務中存在的問題，但之後卡利蓮建築公司倒閉了。
The review comes after politicians scrutinised the quality of statutory audits in the wake of the failure of Carillion, the outsourcing group, amid accusations that auditors had failed to spot red flags in its accounts.
It is the second review by the competition authority in five years and piles fresh pressure on the Big Four firms — PWC, Deloitte, KPMG and EY.
