在一項由學生應用程序SPCE針對2000多名學生的調查中，受訪者被要求根據他們在選擇大學時的一系列因素的重要程度，從1到10打分，其中1不重要，10非常重要。

這些問題被提交給三個不同的小組：在英國大學當前的本科學生;自2007年以來在英國大學獲得本科學位的畢業生;以及2007年之前在英國大學獲得本科學位的任何畢業生。
