我們漢語中說“每一。。。" "都” “一個也沒有”時是沒有數的區別的，也就是說無論談論的數是多少，這幾個漢字都是一樣的。但是英語不同，表達這幾個意思的單詞有數的區別，談論二者和三個以上的東西時所用的詞是不一樣的，利用下圖把這幾個詞一次性記住就不會困惑了。下圖中“(=2)”表示談論的事物為2者時，“＞＝－3”表示談論的事物為三者或三者以上時。
如果上圖還沒看明白，再看下面的文字說明：
當我們談論的事物為兩者中的“每一。。。”時用either。
當我們談論的事物為三者或以上的“每一。。。”時用every。
當我們談論兩者“都”時用both。
當我們談論三者或以上“都”時用all。
當我們談論的事物為兩者中“一個也沒有”時用neither(=no+either)。
當我們談論的事物為三者或以上“一個也沒有”時用none(=no +one)。
另外，二者以上的都可以用each，也就是說each包含了either和every的用法。
