“民国帆船币”俗称“船洋”，这枚民国钱币与中国民主革命伟大先行者孙中山有着密切的关系。作为中国近代民族民主主义革命的开拓者，孙中山发起、领导的辛亥革命彻底推翻了中国封建王朝统治，并在辛亥革命后被推举为中华民国临时大总统，在历史上留下不可磨灭的功勋。为了让世人铭记孙中山先生的丰功伟绩，在民国时期，铸造发行了镌有孙中山先生头像各种版式的银币。“船洋”是民国政府在1933年和1934年间铸造的，整币通体为雪花银铸造。
古钱币是否名气大，主要是由它的历史性和珍稀性决定。“船洋”是中国近代机制币中的十大名誉品之一，铸造于民国二十二年（1933年），当时国民党南京政府决定放弃金本位币制计划，采用银本位币制，并确定采用孙中山汉装侧脸大头照和双帆船作为国币，并于当年二十二年和二十三年铸造发行。银币发行后深受广大百姓欢迎，并逐渐取代了旧式银币。直至1935年，国民党政府实行法币政策，禁止银元流通，“船洋”退出了历史的舞台。
