《道德經》是道家哲學思想的重要來源，是中國歷史上最偉大的名著之一。現在我們用漢英兩個版本來欣賞一下！
1.富貴而驕，自遺其咎。 If riches and wealth have reached the point of pride, it has left its own ruin.

3.載營魄抱一，能無離乎？專氣致柔，能嬰兒乎？滌除玄鑑，能無疵乎？愛民治國，能無為乎？天門開闔，能為雌乎？明白四達，能無知乎？

精神和形體合一，能不分離嗎？聚結精氣以致柔和溫順，能像嬰兒的無慾狀態嗎？清除雜念而深入觀察心靈，能沒有瑕疵嗎？愛民治國能遵行自然無為的規律嗎？感官與外界的對立變化相接觸，能寧靜吧？明白四達，能不用心機嗎？
4.生之、畜之，生而不有，為而不恃，長而不宰。是謂玄德。 Let all things grow and multiply, and bring forth all things, and bring up all things without taking them for themselves, and grow without dominating them. This is called "xuande".
讓萬事萬物生長繁殖，產生萬物、養育萬物而不佔為己有，作萬物之長而不主宰他們。這就叫做“玄德”。
5.三十輻共一轂，當其無，有車之用。
Thirty spokes are pooled into a hole in a hub, and only when the hub is hollow can a car function.
三十根輻條彙集到一根轂中的孔洞當中，有了車轂中空的地方，才有車的作用。
