India is not the next China. There is no next China. I think that's a very.. there will be no other country that develops as rapidly as China does on the scale that China has. India, of course, is an approximate neighbor of China. It has relatively the same population. Its economy about 2 trillion dollars and China's economy between 10 to 11 trillion dollars, five times larger than India. So mathematically, it is possible that India actually outgrows China. It is possible in terms of growth levels of a much lower base. you know if China, if the leaders are so determined to keep growth at 6%. But they cannot. whether it is appropriate or not another issue. if they do . It is possible that India can grow faster than that. They certainly did last year. But when you look at it, you know. 7% growth in India context of economy of 2 trillion dollars. That's 140 billion dollars. When you are looking at 6% on a base of 11 trillion dollars, that's 660 billion dollars. 4 times as fast. You know we do get bothered about the numbers. but what's really important is what are the opportunities within that growth are investable for us, where the opportunities are defendable. we are not just growth junkies to be growth investors. we want sustainable growth.we want circumstances where companies have defendable growth.
