那麼問題來了
“加班”在英語裡該怎麼說呢？
最專業的表達是：
work overtime（超時間工作）
我們來看一下權威的解釋：
To work overtime is to spend time working at one's job in addition to one's normal working hours.
超時工作，就是超過正常工作時間的工作。
我們來看兩個例句，體會一下吧：
It is illegal to compel employees to work overtime without compensation.
要求員工加班而不給予報酬，是違法的。
I have to work overtime to satisfy customer's unreasonable requirements.為了滿足客戶的不合理要求，我必須加班加點工作。
加班，通常是要熬夜的
那麼“熬夜工作”該怎麼說呢？
有一個非常地道的表達：
burn the midnight oil
我們來看一下維基百科的解釋：
Originally referring to the act of burning oil in lamps for light and safety. Now it means to work studiously, especially late into the night.
最初這個表達的意思是，油燈裡的油在燃燒，夜裡才能照明和保證安全。現在多表示工作到深夜。
我們來看兩個例句，體會一下吧：
I have a big test tomorrow, so I plan to burn the midnight oil tonight.
因為明天我有一個重要的考試，所以我計劃今晚挑燈夜讀了。

stay up
這個短語表示很晚才睡
可能是因為加班、寫作業
也可能是因為看球賽、打遊戲等等
