New details have emerged on the Goettsch Partners Web page devoted to a megatall building under design for the Luohu district of Shenzhen.
The proposed 800-meter China Resources Hubei Landmark Tower mixed-use tower in Shenzhen is to be composed of a series of “structural tubes” that taper and step in height as the building rises. At their peaks, each tube would be sculpted to create a blossoming effect. The highest occupiable floor would be 740 meters above ground, and if designed and completed on schedule, could become the world’s highest observation deck.
The 140-story tower is planned to include Class A office spaces, a five-star hotel, luxury residential units, and boutique retail, in addition to the public observation deck. The overall development would include a large urban park and nearly 30 additional buildings, many of which will be residential and commercial projects that would contribute to the impact of the megatall tower.
The project is “intended to create a global landmark for the growing metropolis in China,” Goettsch Partners says. “The design demonstrates the city’s status as a technology and financial hub, in comparison to the height of other structures in neighboring Hong Kong, Macau, and Guangzhou."
