cut from the same cloth

with a fine-toothed comb
fine-toothed comb是一種密齒梳,然後被形象地引用作很嚴密的排查“A method of searching or investigating in minute detail”。“go over with a fine-toothed comb”是常用的搭配.
例:
The policemen went through that house with a fine-toothed comb.

to lose one's shirt

Did you hear what happened to Joe? He's lost his shirt, the poor guy invested all his money in a fancy restaurant and it just went out of business.

have an ace up one's sleeve
have an ace up one's sleeve比喻“手中握有王牌、解救危機的好辦法”。
I still have an ace up my sleeve that you don’t know about.
06
get the boot
My boss seems to be down on me. I'm afraid I'll get the boot.
