倒裝是英語中一種比較重要的語法現象，今天我們就來探討一下地點狀語位於句首時，句子是否需要倒裝的情況。
(1) 如果句子後面動詞為及物動詞則不需要倒裝。例如：
in the room he found his pen.
=He found his pen in the room
=Found in the room was his pen by him.
他在房間裡發現了這支筆。
注：這種情況下如果由於照顧句子重心一定需要倒裝，可以按照下面倒裝：
【結構為：過去分詞/過去分詞短語+be+主語】
Seen on the right were the foremost lines of the students by Mr.Fleming
=On the right Mr.Fleming saw the foremost lines of the students.
=Mr.Fleming saw the foremost lines of the students on the right.
（2）如果後面動詞為不及物動詞，即表示位置的動詞如(如lie, live, sit, stand) 或轉移的動詞 (如come, go, rise)，則需要倒裝。例如：
第一種倒裝結構：（介詞短語+be動詞+主語）結構
By the window sat a young man with a magazine in his hand.
=A young man with magazine in his hand sat by the window.
In front of the house sat an old man.
Among these people was his friend Jim.
=His friend Jim was among these people.
他的朋友吉姆就在這些人當中。
Around the lake are some tall trees.
=Some tall trees are around the lake
湖的四周有些高樹。
Among them was my friend Jim.
=My friend Jim was among them.
他們當中就有我的朋友吉姆
第二種倒裝結構：（介詞短語+動詞+主語）結構
On the ground lay a goat.
Outside the room sits a little dog.
一隻小狗坐在房間外
A statue, the star of hope lies on the riverside . （自然語序）
On the riverside lies a statue, the star of hope. （倒裝語序）
一座碉樓座落在山頂上。
A watchtower stands on top of the hill. （自然語序）
On top of the hill stands a watchtower.（倒裝語序）
