這個時代城市化進程的推進速度已然達到了歷史的巔峰。生活於喧囂忙碌、穿行於城市路網中的我們，依舊常常把城市的理想掛在嘴邊，討論著昆明這座城市的愛與誠。是否慌亂到已經來不及覺察，來不及懷念。不知如何定義形容昆明呢？今天，買買邀請了幾位常居昆明的外國人，看他們眼裡的昆明究竟是什麼樣。外來定義詮釋著他們眼裡的本土風情，或節奏緩慢，或和善可親。

My name is Selman ，chinese name 西蒙 and I hail from London, England. I run Vervo Club and Gin bar. It's an underground club on the top floor and London style Gin bar on the ground floor. Vervo is a place one can always find an international selection of quality music, drinks and atmosphere. Before I came to Kunming I knew about Yunnan's natural beauty and many ethnic minorities, less about Kunming as city. It was over a decade ago and Kunming is one of the lesser known cities in China even though Yunnan as a region is known to travelers. It's my pleasure to have a great many local Kunming friends. They impress me daily with their humour, intellect and way of dealing with things. China can be a hard to place to live and I continue to draw inspiration from the way in which local, everyday people deal with challenges.
我的名字叫Selman，中文名字是西蒙，來自英國倫敦。目前經營著Vervo Club和Gin bar。它的頂層是地下俱樂部，底層是倫敦風格的杜松子酒吧。Vervo是一個可以找到國際精選的高品質的音樂、飲料和氛圍的地方。在我來昆明之前，我知道雲南有許多自然美景和少數民族，但關於昆明知道的卻很少。儘管雲南是一個旅遊勝地，但昆明的知名度卻很低。我很高興認識了許多昆明當地的朋友。他們的幽默、智慧和處事方式都給我留下深刻的印象。中國可能是一個難以快速適應的地方，但我會繼續從當地人每天應對挑戰的生活方式中汲取靈感。

Name: Johan Eeuwes In Kunming for 6 years. Work in the flower business for Anthura. I'm a cultivation manager. I'm taking care of the growing of the plants. I like Kunming a lot and will stay for many years to come. 1.5 years I was lucky to meet my fiancée. We will get married next year. She is from Kunming and I really like Kunming people in general. They are friendly and always helpful. Another thing I love about Kunming is the food. The variety if dishes amazing. The first day I came to Kunming I got mixian for breakfast and have been a fan of this dish since. I see a bright future for Kunming and I hope I can help and be part of it.

I believe that Kunming is one of the best places to live in China. The climate is touching tropical and the air much cleaner than other Chinese cities. It's also home to a friendly ex-pat community, and a small but ever growing amount of foreign enterprises. There's people from all over the world doing good things in Kunming! I've made good friends with many Chinese people here, and in my circles westerners and locals get along famously.With a population approaching 7 million, Kunming strangely retains a bit of a "small town" feel.It's also a quick flight away from a bunch of amazing southeast Asian countries.The pace of life is slow, and perfect for being outside and playing sports. I usually cycle to get around. Yunnan's diverse range of ethnic minorities give the city an interesting backdrop - and the sunny weather means fresh vegetables and fruit all year long. My goal is to study Chinese, so I have the luxury of choosing to live in a nice environment.

我認為昆明是中國最適合居住的地方之一。這裡的氣候屬於熱帶氣候，空氣比中國其他城市都要乾淨得多。這裡是一個對外國人很友好的社區，還是為數不多但持續在增長的外國企業所在地。有來自世界各地的人在昆明工作！我在這裡和許多中國人都成為了好朋友，在我的圈子裡，西方人和當地人相處得都很好。昆明的人口接近700萬，但奇怪的是，這裡仍然保留著一種“小鎮”的感覺。它離很多東南亞國家都近，可以快速飛到那裡。在昆明，生活節奏緩慢，也適合戶外運動，所以我經常騎自行車四處走動。少數民族聚居於此，給了這個城市一個有趣的文化背景，陽光明媚的天氣也意味著全年都能吃到新鮮的蔬菜和水果。我的目標是學習好中文，這樣我才能有選擇生活在一個美好環境的權利。

The sunny and salubrious city of Kunming provides a most welcome sanctuary for experienced expats wanting relief from the grit and toughness of more well-known Chinese cities. As well as this, newcomers seeking an introduction to life in China can easily find a far more stimulating and pleasant lifestyle in Kunming. With so many beautiful places nearby and the intriguing diversity and isolated geography of the region, we often feel rather fortunate to live here. We are free from much of the stress and harshness that defines typical city life and we are blessed by beautiful weather and short winters in a clean, relaxed and fun environment.

私が初めてkunmingに來た頃、最初に驚いたのはkunmingの青い空だ。正直、日本の空もきれいだと思うか、kunmingの空はきれいなだけではなく、透き通ったスカイブルー色がものすごく近く感じる、今まで、天は高くと教えられてきたが、kunmingの青空はまるで手の屆く距離にある。 來る前に、kunmingは春の町だと友達が教えてくれた、実際にここで暮らしていると、その意味はよくわかった。年中暑い日も寒い日も少ない、日々溫かい天気が続い、まさに一年間も春だ、雪がないのは少しさびしいが、その代わりに花がたくさんある、選り取り見取りで華やかな花がこの春の町を飾っている。日本人の私にはもう一つうらやましいほどのところがフルーツが安い、そして花に負けない種類、特に日本では見たことも少ない熱帯フルーツ、名も呼べないが美味しくいただいた。 カモメって海のそばで暮らしていた私には特に珍しいもなにもないっと思っていた。しかし、kunmingのカモメに驚かされた、種類ではなく、その數に。數萬羽のカモメが湖の上で、時に飛び、時に降り、何かに従って舞ているよう。手で餌を持ち上げると、怖がらずに寄ってくれる。
第一次來昆明的時候，最初讓我感到驚訝的是昆明的天空，不只是藍，透亮的天藍色感覺離得很近，以前一直覺得，天空是高不可及的，而昆明的天空就在手能夠到的距離。來昆明之前朋友告訴我昆明是春城，在這裡生活以後我才明白他的意思，這裡沒有太熱的日子也沒有太冷的日子，每天都很溫暖，不愧是四季如春。雖然沒有雪讓我感到一絲遺憾，但相反的，這裡花非常多，鮮豔美麗的花任君挑選，點綴著這個城市。還有一件讓身為日本人的我感到羨慕的是，這裡的水果，有著不輸鮮花的種類，尤其是在日本難以見到的熱帶水果，雖然我叫不出名字，但吃起來很美味。海鷗對於在海邊生活過的我來說並不稀奇，但是我卻被昆明的紅嘴鷗嚇到了，不是因為它的種類，而是它的數量，成千上萬只紅嘴鷗在湖面上盤旋，像是在空中漫舞。
買買說：紅嘴鷗本鷗表示不背這個鍋。
你眼裡的昆明又是什麼樣的？醫療和教育資源有待提升的二線城市？不那麼洋氣但有風和日麗好天氣的養老聖地？民風淳樸小吃甚多的旅遊首選項？這些都是他人對昆明的印象。選擇留在雲南，居在昆明，理由並不大致相同。享受頭頂的這一片蔚藍天空，適應本土的風俗人情，昆明，若能紮根於此，亦可自得其樂。
