1 “黑馬”可不是black horse
中文裡，關於 “馬” 的成語實在太多，馬到成功、一馬當先、車水馬龍...其實在英語中，關於馬的俚語也不少，如果不瞭解它們的真正意思，很容易會引起誤解
1、“a horse laugh”是什麼意思？
a horse laugh可不是“一隻馬在笑”，意思是不信任的嘲笑，譏笑，狂笑。
例如：
①When I told him that I passed the exam, he simply gave me a horse laugh.
當我告訴他我考試過了，他不相信地笑了。
②At the end of the joke she gave a horse laugh that could be heard a street away.
在那個笑話結束時，她發出一陣狂笑，隔著一條街都能聽到。
2、hold your horses耐心點
hold your horses 其實跟 “馬” 一點關係都沒有，它的正確意思是：不要著急；耐心點，也可以表達成 hold the horses。
例如：
Hold your horses and never expose your identity.
沉住氣，不要暴露你的身份。
3、“黑馬”可不是black horse
黑馬正確的說法是：dark horse。
英文詞典裡是這樣解釋的：
A candidate or competitor about whom little is known but who unexpectedly wins or succeeds.
鮮為人知的候選人或競爭者，意外地獲勝或成功。
例如：
Don't think you'll beat him easily, he may be a dark horse.不要以為你會輕而易舉地勝過他，他可能是出人意料的高手。
2 autumn是“秋天”，year是“年”
“autumn years”是秋天一樣的年？想起中文的“四季如春”，難道這是英文裡形容氣候的短語？
劍橋詞典裡autumn years解釋：
Someone's autumn years are the later years of their life, especially after they have stopped working.
所以，autumn years是指：暮年，晚年，特別是指退休之後
例如：
①He has nice company for his autumn years.
他晚年生活得到了很好的陪伴。
（company在這裡是陪伴）
②In his autumn years, James was able to enjoy his garden a lot more.
在James的晚年，他可以盡情地享用他的花園了。
3“本命年”英文怎麼表達
"本命年“的英文該怎麼表達？你會用英語表達你的生肖嗎？
本命年在英語中有幾個表達：
①my year of fate
②my animal year
③my birth year
④my big year
⑤the year of my birth sign
本命年中國人會在身上穿紅色、戴紅色的東西，比如紅腰帶（red belt)、紅襪子（red socks)、 紅內衣（red underwear)
例如：
A: Is this the year of your birth sign?
今年是你的本命年嗎？
B: Yeah， I was born in the year of the Dog.
是的，我狗年出生的。
