在英語中有陳述語氣，用於平鋪直敘客觀情況。而

虛擬語氣，顧名思義，不是真實的客觀的情況，而是主觀的（說話人）命令，要求，建議等，事實上並未發生。在形式上用should+do來標明這是虛擬語氣。

巧記1：名詞性從句中的虛擬語氣

名詞性從句:­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ 主語從句，賓語從句，表語從句，同位語從句。

1) 賓語從句: 10個動詞+that sb. (should) do

例：I suggest that he (should) work hard.

我建議他努力學習。

巧記2：與suggest用法相同的10個動詞

思考：為什麼這些詞要用虛擬語氣呢？

因為：你命令要求建議或堅持讓某人去做某事，事實他還沒做，這就是虛擬語氣。

所以要注意：suggest表暗示表明； insist表堅稱時，不用虛擬語氣。

He insisted that he didn't cheat in the exam.

他堅持說他沒作弊。

His embarrassed look suggested that he was lying.

他尷尬的表情表明他在撒謊。

2)主語從句：It is/was +10個動詞（-ed）+sb.(should) do

例：① It is suggested that he should work hard.　

據建議他該努力學習。

注意

：It 作形式主語使用虛擬語氣的句式還有

② It is important, necessary，strange…that+ (should) do

③ It is a pity, a shame, no wonder… that+ (should) do

④ It is (high/about) time that sb. should do/did sth.(should不可省略）

到某人做某事的時間了，事實上還沒做，所以用虛擬。

注意：在句式②③中，should除譯為應該外，有時表竟然。

例句：It is strange that he should arrive so early.

他竟然這麼早就到了，真是奇怪。

It is a shame that he should cheat in the exam.

他竟然考試作弊，真是可恥。

3)表語從句: 10個名詞+ be+ that+ sb. (should) do

例：My suggestion is that he (should) work hard.

我的建議是他該努力學習。

注意:10個動詞的名詞形式如下

1堅持：insistence

2命令：order, command

3要求:demand, requirement,request

4建議:advice,suggestion,proposal，recommendation

4)同位語從句：10個名詞+ + that+ sb. (should) do

例：He didn’t follow my suggestion that he (should) work hard.

他沒有聽我讓他努力學習的建議。
