英語中的shot是一個很常見的單詞，可以表達的意思也很多，比如射擊，足球射門，籃球投籃等等，而且之前我們也分享過詞組long shot（表示機會渺茫）。
那還有哪些和shot相關的常用英文詞組和句子呢？趕緊來瞅瞅！
1）Give it a shot.
Give it a shot中的shot是一個名詞，意思是嘗試或努力，也就是“給它一次機會嘗試一下”，因此，這個短句是指試圖做某事，嘗試一下，試試看。
英語例句：
① I am not so into tea actually，but it's so cold out there that I am gonna give it a shot today.
其實我不是很喜歡茶，但是今天外面好冷，我可以試一試。
② The Roller Coaster is so exciting and it’s safe！Why don’t you give it a shot？
這個雲霄飛車相當刺激，也很安全。為啥不去試試捏？
2）A shot in the arm
A shot in the arm可不是“手臂被擊中”！但人生低谷尤其需要！為什麼？
Shot有注射的意思，因此a shot in the arm可以表示“手臂上被打針”的意思；
不過在口語中，多被引申為“打了一劑強心針”，表示能鼓舞士氣或令人振奮的事情。
英語例句：
① The boss’s unexpected praise really gave me a shot in the arm.
老闆那出其不意的表揚真是給了我“一劑強心針”，讓我振奮起來了。
② The good grade in the report card is a shot in the arm for Adam.
成績報告單裡的好成績鼓舞了亞當。
3）Cheap shot
Cheap shot這個詞組表面看其實不太容易理解，你要知道，cheap有卑鄙的意思，shot有表示言論，言語的意思，因此，cheap shot在口語中指的是尖酸刻薄的話或惡意中傷。
英語例句：
① She always throws out cheap shot and has no class at all.
她總是說一些尖酸刻薄的話，一點風度都沒有。
② You said Adam looked like a squash？What a cheap shot！
你說亞當看起來像個窩瓜？這話真的很刻薄啊！
4）Hotshot
It means people who are brilliant and good at a particular job and are going to be very successful.也就是那些特別有才華的，很擅長某份工作並且將會很成功。
因此，hotshot一般指高手能人或前途無量的人。
英語例句：
① Adam is a hotshot in the IT industry.
亞當是IT行業裡的一位佼佼者。
