be to do和be about to do都可以表示將來時，區別在哪裡呢？
我們先來看幾個例句。
What am I to do? 我該做什麼呢？（表示職責）
You are to deliver these flowers before 10.（表示義務）
The president is to visit China next week.（表示計劃）
You are to arrive there tomorrow.（表示約定）
Now ladies and gentlemen, you are about to hear the most incredible tale.
女士們，先生們，你們馬上將要聽到一個令人難以相信的故事。
Don't go out. We are about to have supper.
不要出去了，我們馬上就要吃晚飯了。
The plane is about to take off.
飛機就要起飛了。

請安靜，比賽馬上開始。
通過以上的例句，我們不難看出:
be to do 表示計劃、約定或按職責、義務必要做的事情。它強調客觀安排或受人指示而做某事。

be about to do 表示不久或即將發生的動作，一般不與時間狀語連用。
理解關鍵：不久、馬上發生
