在上期的推送中，給大家介紹了源於聖經的幾個習語，如A leopard cannot change his spots. 喻指：江山易改，本性難移。 You are the apple of my eye. 喻指：你是我的摯愛，或你是我最珍貴的人。Moses (人名）摩西，喻指：領導者，領袖。a land flowing with milk and honey 喻指：富饒之地，魚米之鄉。
今天接著帶領大家一起了解那些源自《聖經》中的英語習語：
1. bone of the bone and flesh of the flesh
骨中骨，肉中肉
語出：《聖經》舊約的Genesis《創世紀》,原文為：And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;this one should be called Woman, for out of Man this one was taken.”Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.（NRSV）
上帝用泥土造人，並他起名叫亞當。但那時的亞當是孤獨的，上帝決心為他造一個配偶，便使他沉睡，在他沉睡之際取下他一根肋骨，又把肉合起來。上帝用這根肋骨造成了一個女人，取名叫夏娃。上帝把夏娃領到亞當跟前，亞當立刻意識到這個女人與自己生命的聯繫，他心中充滿了快慰和滿意，脫口便說："這是我骨中的骨，肉中的肉啊！可以稱她為女人，因為他是從男人身上取出來的。"男人和女人原本是一體，因此男人和女人長大以後都要離開父母，與對方結合，二人成為一體。
此言喻指：血濃於水，血肉相連或思想上的團結一致。
E.g: The trade union was bone of the bone and flesh of the flesh of the workers. 該工會與工人是血肉相連的。
2. the garden of Eden 伊甸園
語出：《聖經》舊約的Genesis《創世紀》,原文為： And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there he put the man whom he had formed. Out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
上帝在東方的伊甸，為亞當和夏娃造了一個樂園。那裡地上撒滿金子、珍珠、紅瑪瑙，各種樹木從地裡長出來，開滿各種奇花異卉，非常好看；樹上的果子還可以作為食物。
此言喻指：樂園;人間天堂
E.g: My friend Louis says Crete is the Garden of Eden. 我的朋友路易斯說克里特島簡直就是人間天堂。
3. forbidden fruit 禁果
源於《聖經》舊約的Genesis《創世紀》，禁果是伊甸園“知善惡樹”(the tree of the knowledge of good and evil)上結的果實。上帝對亞當和夏娃說園中樹上的果子都可以吃，唯“知善惡樹”上的果實“不可吃、也不可摸”，否則他們便會死。最後夏娃受魔鬼（蛇）的引誘，不顧上帝的吩咐進食了禁果，又把果子給了亞當，他也吃了。上帝便把他們趕出伊甸園。偷食禁果被認為是人類的原罪及一切其它罪惡的開端。
此言喻指：破壞規矩或做了不應做之事而得到的滿足
E.g: There is an old saying that forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest.
有句諺語說，禁忌之果嚐起來最甜。
