過去將來時的定義
過去將來時是表示從過去的觀點看將來發生的動作或存在的狀態。
過去將來時的構成
1.主語+would+動詞原形
2.主語+was/were going to+動詞原形
3.was/were+動詞不定式
過去將來時的用法
1.表示從過去某一時間看將來要發生的動作或存在的狀態。過去將來時在賓語從句裡最常見。
He said he would come.
他說他要來。
I thought you would help him.
我原以為你會幫他的。
I didn't know how he would deal with these things.
我不知道他會怎樣處理這些事情。
She said that there was going to be a performance in our school tomorrow evening.
她說我們學校明晚將要有一場演出活動。
2.一些表示位置轉移的詞如go，come，leave，arrive等，可用過去進行時來表示在過去某時看將要發生的動作或打算要做的事。
He said he was leaving for Beijing that afternoon.
他說他那天下午就要前往北京。
I didn't know when they were coming again.
我不知道他們什麼時候再來。
3.過去將來時經常用於表示過去的習慣性動作。這時，不分人稱，都用would。
Whatever he did, he would use his left hand.
他無論做什麼，總是用左手。
She would practise playing the piano whenever she was free.
那時，她一有時間，便去練習彈鋼琴。
4.過去將來時還可以用was/were about to do sth.來表示。
The attendant said that the train was about to leave.
那個列車員說火車馬上就要離開了。
