陸放教授，1932年江蘇省崑山市。1949年開始從事美術工作，1955年考入中央美術學院華東分院版畫系，於1960年畢業，同年留校任教。 陸放的版畫作品抒情典雅，在吸收中國傳統水印木刻技術的基礎上自成一格，作品主要描繪江南風光，尤其是表現杭州西湖美景之作，匠心獨運，贏得“西湖陸”的美譽。
