世界銀元11枚（收於2019年）銀元，起源於公元15世紀，始鑄於歐洲，俗稱"洋錢"、"花邊錢"或"大洋"。是世界上銀本位制國家的主要流通貨幣。大約在公元16世紀，銀元流入中國。1890年(光緒16年)官方才開始正式鑄造銀元。
此套《世界銀元》中，中國熊貓銀幣、美國鷹洋銀幣、加拿大楓葉銀幣、澳大利亞翠鳥銀幣、奧地利音樂銀幣五枚為當今世界知名度較高的銀幣；孫中山像銀元貳毫、美國銀元25分、加拿大銀元25分、澳大利亞銀元1先令、奧地利銀元5先令五枚銀元屬於五個國家特殊歷史時期中各具唯一地位的老銀元。古絲綢之路銀幣一枚，大小、重量均可觀，是中世紀流通於古絲路的銀幣。

Sun Yat-sen's image is 20 cents in silver, 25 cents in U.S. silver, 25 cents in Canadian silver, 1 shilling in Australian silver and 5 shilling in Austrian silver. Five silver belong to the old silver with unique status in each of the five countries' special historical periods. A silver coin of the ancient Silk Road, of considerable size and weight, is a silver coin circulating in the ancient Silk Road in the Middle Ages.
These eleven coins are the legal tender of their respective countries, and each has its own unique design, which shows the cultural history of their respective countries.
