在日常生活中我們常常會碰到某些要表達自己希望或者願望的場合，下面就介紹一些生活中的常用句型：
i hope our monitor is better.
當我們希望某人現狀比較好或者身體好的話可以用這類句子，再比如：
i hope our monitor is all right now. 我希望班長已經一切正常。
your family are quite well, i hope. 我希望你全家都好。
希望天氣好也可以這樣說，例如：
— will it snow tomorrow? 明天會下雪嗎？
— i hope not.我可不希望下雪。
we hope for an early spring. 我們希望春天早點兒來。
這類句子還可以表示“希望事情如願”，例如：
in this i hope for your help.這件事我希望能得到你的幫助。
hope for the best and prepare for the worst. 希望得到最好結果，準備應付最壞的情況。
2006年夏天全國出現旱情，我們就可以說：after the dry weather everyone hopes for rain. 旱季之後人人都希望降雨。
i hope to hear from you soon.
hope to do something 意為“希望做某件事”，例如：
當與朋友見面時她情緒不太好時你可以說：i hope to find you in better spirits when we meet again. 我希望再次見面時你情緒好些。
當你要出遠門，家人問你什麼時候能回家而你又不確定時可以說：i hope to be back tomorrow night. 我希望明晚回來。
再比如：
i hope to have finished the work by now. 真希望現在工作已經結束了。
we can’t hope to win an easy victory. 我們不能指望輕易取勝。
—i hope very much to go to the exhibition. 我非常希望去參觀展覽會。
—so do i. 我也一樣。
what is it you want me to do?
want someone/something+to do的意思是“想要某人、某物做某事。如：
當你想和朋友一道去做什麼事的時候，可以說 don’t you want someone to go along with you? 難道你不想有人和你一道去？
當有不好的事情發生的時候，你要表示憤怒和希望，可以說i don’t want such a thing to happen again. 我不希望這種事再次發生。
也可以用來表示良好的願望和祝福，如we wanted this meeting to be a successful one. 我們希望這次會議成功。
還可以用來提出自己的建議，如i want you to think it over before you make a decision. 我希望你做決定前仔細考慮一下。
i want you to see him without delay. 我希望你立即見他。
we don’t want you getting into trouble.
want 是最常用的表示自己想要做什麼的詞，want someone doing something 意為“想要，希望，願意某人（正在，不斷）做某事”，如：i don’t want people playing the piano at all hours of the day and night! 我不希望人們日日夜夜都不停地彈鋼琴。
當心情不好，不想聽爸爸媽媽嘮叨的時候你可以說：who wants you thinking about me? 誰要你考慮我？
i wouldn’t want an old man like you interfering in my affairs. 我不願意像你這樣的老人干涉我的事務。
不過這些話可是很傷人的，所以儘量不要說哦！

Want something /someone意為“想要某物，想見某人”，也可用於被動結構，比如：
當你想得到朋友的意見或者某種承諾時可說
We want your opinion/promise.我們希望聽到你的意見（得到你的承諾）。
I want a few words with you. 我想和你說幾句話。
If you ever want me, come to me for assistance. 如果你需要我，就來找我幫忙吧。
What on earth did you want with me? 你究竟想和我幹什麼？
What is it you want from him? 你想從他那兒得到什麼？
You are wanted on the telephone/by telephone.有電話找你。
You’re wanted in the office. 你需要到辦公室去。
I don’t wish to leave my mother.
Wish to do something 相當於want to do something或hope to do something意為“願意，希望做某事”，這裡用來表示自己的主觀願望，希望得到別人理解及支持，例如：But I wish to remain here.但我願意留在這兒。
I do not wish to be disturbed in my work. 我工作時不願受到打擾。
I wish once again to express our warmest welcome to you. 我願意再次表示對你的誠摯歡迎。
I wish to speak to you. 我有話和你說。
I wish you to stay here.
Wish someone. to do something 相當於want someone to do something 或would like someone to do something，例如：
I wish you to stay here. 我希望你留在這兒。
I do wish my son to accept the post. 我確實希望我兒子接受這個職位。
They wished me to call on you. 他們希望我拜訪你。
We don’t wish the subject to be raised again. 我們不希望這個問題再次被提出。
He longed to be back in England.
Long+to-v. 的意思是“渴望做某件事”。Long for+n./pron.的意思則是“渴望，迫切希望得到某物”，不要弄混哦，我們來看幾個例子：
How I long for your opinion! 我多麼渴望你的意見啊。
I longed to read my story to you. 我渴望把我的故事讀給你聽。
We longed to see her. 我們渴望見到她。
If only he could have understood the doctor’s words!
If only這個句型表示一種虛擬語氣，就是一種未能實現的願望，可以理解為“但願……，要是……就好了”，比如：
表示一種希望的心情。
If only he had seen me! 但願他那時看見了我！
If only he didn’t drive so fast. 他開車別那麼快就好了。
If only he didn’t snore! 他要是不打鼾就好了。
用來期待好天氣的時候
If only the rain would stop soon! 雨要是快點停了多好！
If only the weather were fine! 要是個好天多好！
當事與願違的時候，也就是說自己希望的和事實想反的時候
If only you had kept quiet then. 你那時要是不說話多好。
If only we can get a car, we’ll be all right. 我們要是能弄到一部車，一切就好辦了。
If only I had known, I wouldn’t have done it! 我要是早知道，就不會幹了。
If only Peter were here, it would all be different! 如果彼得在這兒，情況就完全不同了。
If only she arrives in time! 她要是按時到多好！
