英語口語:用英語問路

have you ever gotten lost while traveling?your holiday will be off to a bad start if youcan't even find your hoteii but if you learn these useful phrases you'ii be able to ask directions and find your way around any english speaking city.

曾經在旅行時迷過路嗎?如果你連要去的酒店都找不到,那假日一開始就會變得糟透了!但是如果你學習這些有用的短語,你將能夠問路並在任何說英語的城市找到你要去的地方了。

whatever you're asking, it's always best to open with a phrase like“excuse me”or“could you help me?”. the person you're asking will appreciate the courtesy and often be more helpful!

無論你怎麼問,最好的開場白就是這樣的短語”excuse me口或者說"could you help me?”。這樣你問到的那個人將會對你的禮貌非常滿意並常常會為你提供更多的幫助!

“could you teil me how to get to…?”is the standard way to ask how to get to a spec…c place, iike a museum, hotel,0r street.

"could you tell me how to get to…?”是問去具體某個地方,象博物館,酒店,或街道的標準句型。

lf you are not lookmg for a specifi(place, but just need to fmd a near by bank, subway stop, bath room, and so on, then it's best to use a ohrase like“where is the closest…?”

如果你不是問一個具體的地方,但需要找到附近的銀行,地鐵站,廁所,等等的地方,那麼最好的方式就是用這樣的短語:“where is the ciosest…?”。

one of the most common ways people explain where things are is using the term iblocks'.a block is the section of street between two intersections. so 'the next block' means the section of street after the next intersection, while three blocks ahead means to stay on the same street and keep going past the next three intersections.

人們解釋事物所在地最常用的一種方式就是使用術語,blocks'o block是在兩個十字路口之間的一段街區。因此”the next block“意味著下個路口之後的那段街區,而“three blocks ahead”意味著在同一條街道上但過接下來的三個路口。

another way of saying how far to go is to use phrases like 'the third right' or 'the next left'. so if someone says “take the third street on the left" it means you should walk past two intersections and then turn left at the third one.

另一種表示距離有多遠的方式即是使用象這樣的短語"the third right"或"the next left”。因此如果有人說:"take the third street on the left",意思是你應該走過兩介路口然後在第三個路口左轉。

there are several different ways to tell someone to make a right or left turn. 'take a left', 'go left', iturn left' and imake a left' all mean the same thing: turn left. "go around the corner" means turn at the next street without crossing it,

叫別人左轉或右轉的不同方式有好幾種。 ”take a left"、 "go left"、 "turn left”和”make a left",都代表同樣的意思:左轉。“go around the corner”意思是在下個街道轉身但不跨越。

other directions refer to other buildings or landmarks. "lt's just past the bank" means if you go past the bank, the place you're looking for will be one of the next few buildings. 'opposite', 'across from', and facing all mean the same thing -0n the same street, but on the other side.

用建築或標誌物的指向。"it's just past the bank",意思是如果你走過銀行,你要找的地方就在接下來的幾幢建築物中。 曝opposite廳、 卟across from”和"facing9的意思一樣,都代表同一個意思一在同一條街道上,但在另一邊。
